Who is Varda Space Industries?
Varda Space Industries is an innovative aerospace company based in El Segundo, California, founded in January 2021 by Will Bruey and Delian Asparouhov. The company specializes in in-space manufacturing, focusing on producing pharmaceuticals and other materials in microgravity environments, which can lead to superior product qualities not achievable on Earth.
Varda’s headquarters and primary production facility are located at 225 S Aviation Blvd, El Segundo, CA 90245. This 61,000-square-foot facility houses a pharmaceutical laboratory, a hyper-gravity crystallization platform, and serves as the hub for vehicle integration and testing.
Key Technologies and Missions
Varda’s flagship technology is the W-Series re-entry capsule, an autonomous spacecraft designed to process materials in orbit and return them to Earth. These capsules re-enter Earth’s atmosphere at speeds exceeding Mach 25, utilizing advanced heatshield technology developed in collaboration with NASA.
